This interest in our family tree started back when “Roots” first aired on TV in 1977. It was an adaptation of Alex Haley’s “Roots”, chronicling the history of an African man sold to slavery in America, and his descendants. The mini-series was remade in 2016. The Hado side of the family tree was easy since Cathy Jankowski, Lisa’s cousin, did a similar project for her mother, Georgina.

One page, Perry/Casa Loma, is not about our family but about our association to Casa Loma, a very famous castle in Toronto. Our father worked as a private chef for a millionaire, Gordon F Perry, for many years. His sister was married to Col. Reginald Pellatt, son of Sir Henry Pellatt, who built the castle in Toronto. It is now a landmark in Toronto. After Mr. Perry passed away, my father ended up working for his sister (daughter-in-law of owner).
